CEREC
CEREC® One-visit ceramic restorations
CEREC is a computer-aided design and manufacture system that allows us to make custom-fitted natural-looking ceramic crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers right in our office, and usually in a single appointment.
How does CEREC work?
Just like with traditional dental restorations, the tooth is prepared by removing old fillings, decay, and damaged enamel. After the tooth has been cleaned and shaped, we take 3-D pictures of the prepared tooth using a special infra-red camera. Using advanced design software, we carefully design the appropriate restoration. The computer transmits this design to a robotic CAD/CAM machine that mills your restoration from a solid block of ceramic in about 10 minutes.
What are the advantages of CEREC?
Using this technology we are able to produce extremely accurate, durable restorations that work with modern dental adhesives. This means that less tooth preparation (drilling) is required, and more of your natural enamel is left intact. CEREC restorations contain no metals of any kind which means that they match your natural tooth color more closely than most traditional dental restorations. Moreover, CEREC restorations can usually be completed in a single appointment, saving you the time and hassle of a second visit.
